This class will meet for 3 hours to learn how to make an "In The Hoop" bowl or placemat! We'll be doing this with a 4x4 inch hoop, so if that's your hoop size you're going to love making these. The bowls are great for storing small items, jewelry, wrapped candy, or other trinkets. They also make beautiful presents! The bowl does require a small amount of machine sewing to finish, the placemat doesn't.
Purchase prior to class:
1. Bowl design is on the Kreative Kiki site ( if you scroll down in the description, you'll see my bowls!):
https://www.kreativekiwiembroidery.co.nz/product/In-the-hoop-Bowl.html
2. Fabric - (cut before class, if possible) small designs can be "fussy cut" for each section of the bowl, which makes it really special. Fabric requirements:
a. 2 layers of Fabric type water soluble stabilizer per hooping
b. Center - one 5x5 inch
c. Front - six 5x5 inch pieces of fabric
d. Backing seven 5x5 inch pieces of fabric
e. battlizer recommended - seven 5x5 pieces
f. Prep each fabric square by spraying on the back with Terial Magic, and apply SF101 to the back of each.
3. Your choice of threads. Floriani works great for all machine embroidery! Matching bobbin for final stitching, and for quilting if you want it on the back too.
4. embroidery needles
Bring sewing tools, rotary cutter, scissors for trimming fabric and battlizer, and a working embroidery machine (including hoop/s, manual, power cord and foot pedal) to class.
